Live contemporary artthrough the tea ritual
A unique sensory experience: discover the Japanese avant-garde in ritual traditional tea.
The biennial AREThé aspires to bring contemporary Japanese art to life through ritualchanoyu; an artistic meeting traditionally organized around Matcha tea.
During its development, the Tea Ritual, chanoyuhas grown, offering the opportunity to criticize art in an avant-garde way in small groups. chadogu(instruments needed to organize a meetingchanoyu), considered both functional and aesthetic works of art, often came from private collections.
Each instrument installed in the tea ritual room represents a unique and indispensable element of a coherent whole for the staging, in harmony with the place and the theme of the meeting. It also coincides with the season, evoking the beauty and transience of nature.
Participants in the ritual are invited to appreciate the beauty and subtle meaning of the host's choices in their installation. Thus, meetings chanoyu constitute a complete art in themselves and each ritual forms a kind of ephemeral exhibition.
At the AREThé biennial, works by contemporary Japanese artists are presented in order to perpetuate the avant-garde and dynamic spirit of this tradition. We will collaborate with famous museums around the world to organize exhibitions there. During the AREThé ritual, you can actually touch the works of art taken out of the museum's display cases.
The AREThé biennial is therefore a unique opportunity to experience this interactive art, vector of universal and timeless values. We want to put to the test in today's society the avant-garde of this spirit of Tea which has not ceased to amaze our senses for 400 years. From the resonance of the senses that will be generated there, new modes of communication may emerge.

Patrons and Sponsors have played a key role since the beginning of the AREThé festival and provide essential support for the existence of many projects of our non-profit organization: World Art Bridge.
With each of them, World Art Bridge strives to design appropriate operations, by having them share all the values that we embody. We are convinced that Art makes it possible to overcome intercultural barriers, a necessity in our globalized society.
AREThé is a word imagined in order to underline the link between Art and tea. It also echoes the Greek term ἀρετή (fish bone), which means "virtue" in the most basic sense. According to Nietzsche, Art is the only means of self-transcendence. For us, Art is an excellent tool for communication between oneself and others.
World Art Bridge connects the world through Art, and we thank you for your valuable support.

An essential place is reserved for patrons, allowing them to be at the heart of World Art Bridge projects. Counterparts established according to the donations paid are granted to them (used for the acquisition of entrance tickets, festival passes, the organization of events in the company). Sponsorship gives companies the opportunity to organize special operations: product launches, advertising insertion in the festival catalog, brand enhancement... World Art Bridge supports them in this commercial approach by setting up specific actions of communications and public relations.
